Suez Canal increases toll surcharges on most vessels > 01/May/2022

THE Suez Canal Authority is increasing surcharges levied on ships using the waterway.

The amended surcharges can be found on the Suez Canal Authority's website under Navigation Circulars.  The changes apply to most vessel types, including tankers carrying crude oil, petroleum products, chemicals, liquid bulk cargoes, dry bulk vessels, multi-purpose ships, containerships, and other vessels.

The Suez Canal Authority declared the changes were made "in line with the significant growth in global trade, the improvement of ships' economics, the Suez Canal waterway development and the enhancement of the transit service."

The changes come after the Suez Canal Authority adjusted tolls by 10 per cent on some vessel types effective March 1, 2022, one month after it raised tolls six per cent for most vessel types, with the exception of cruise ships and liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

Amended tolls will apply to vessels transiting the Suez Canal on May, 1 2022.
